My mother in law has this type of blanket on her guest bed, and it is really warm, therefore prompting me to register for one. Well, we finally got it out of the plastic protector the other weekend, and an insert said to wash it before first use, and then wash it at least twice a year. No problem. We have cats and it will probably get washed regularly. I'm hoping that the 300,000 of the "millions of fibers" that make up the blanket that I lost during that initial wash will be less the next time I wash it. Boy, did it shed! It is still a great blanket, but don't wear black when you wash it because of all the little fibers you'll get on you. Besides, the cats thought the texture of the blanket was really cool, and it was fun to watch them play for a while. |  | Soft, soft soft! | | This is a great blanket!
